I am fascinated by how small differences in genomes create the amazing diversity around us, and love getting to use genetics and genomics to uncover how this all works. When not in the lab, I’m hanging out with my dogs, cooking, making art, and reading for fun.

Nicholas Kowal

PhD Student, incoming Fall 2025
Nick has been working at UNL’s Cedar Point Biological Station, working to find out if there if there is a hybrid zone between two species of fence lizard, which will help provide information regarding management decisions for threatened species and help us understand hybrid zones.

Hendy Ginting

MS Student, incoming Fall 2025
Hendy is coming to the lab with a background in fisheries and will be working to develop a project that combines his love of fish with an understanding of mechanism.

Omolola Olabintan

PhD Student, incoming Fall 2025
Omolola has a MS from the University of Ibadan, and is coming to work with our lab and Colin Meiklejohn’s lab to explore the evolution of sex chromosomes.

Technician, incoming Summer 2025
Michael is completing a BS in Biology at Juniata College in Pennsylvania, where he has worked on many research projects from analyzing microbiomes to looking at the gene expression of toad toxin glands.
